International recognition for netfocus processes
07/25/2006
Netfocus has earned CMMI* (Capability Maturity Model Integration) level-2 accreditation. CMMI is a maturity model established to enhance or assess maintenance and development processes for software products and systems. The certification in question recognises the work undertaken by netfocus in terms of regarding quality as a distinguishing element with sustainable value.
Thanks to its achievement, netfocus guarantees its customers complete transparency with regard to the progress made in projects underway, the definition of systems and adherence to established deadlines, thus earning a higher level of satisfaction with the service received.
The main goal of the CMMI maturity model is the improvement of organisations, and it entails the application of "common sense" and experience to concepts related to the management of processes and quality for products involved in software development and maintenance.
The CMMI model originated in the Software Engineering Institute of the Carnegie Mellon University in the USA and has been adopted by major aeronautic, automobile and telecommunications companies, among others. In Spain, less than 20 companies have obtained the accreditation in question; those that have done so include GFT, T-Systems, Soluziona, IBM Global Services, INDRA Sistemas, Accenture - Coritel and, now, netfocus.
As attained by netfocus, CMMI level 2 indicates the existence of a special process for the various projects undertaken. To obtain such recognition of maturity, netfocus had to pass a range of tests, which began in March 2004 and ended on 14 July of this year with the successful completion of the final SCAMPI (Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement) diagnostic assessments.
